One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is:

“Once my loved one starts hospice, everything else has to stop.”

That isn’t always true.

While hospice does replace some services related to the terminal illness, many families are surprised to learn that they may still qualify for additional benefits through their insurance.

Depending on your plan, you may have access to services such as:

• Transportation assistance
• Meal delivery programs
• Home care or personal care services
• Adult day health programs
• Other community support services

The most important thing to remember is this:

Every insurance plan is different.

Even Medicare, Medicare Advantage, private insurance, Medicaid, and VA benefits can all work differently depending on your situation.

That’s why I always recommend making one simple phone call.

Turn your insurance card over and ask:

“What additional services are available while my loved one is receiving hospice care?”

Many families never ask this question and miss benefits they may already have.

If your loved one is a Veteran, I also encourage you to speak with your VA case manager about additional services that may still be available.

My goal is to help families ask the right questions so they can make informed decisions during one of life’s most difficult seasons.

ઘણા પરિવારો એવું માને છે કે…

“એકવાર Hospice Care શરૂ થઈ જાય પછી બીજી બધી સેવાઓ બંધ થઈ જાય છે.”

પણ હંમેશા એવું નથી હોતું.

Hospice શરૂ થયા પછી કેટલીક સેવાઓ બદલાય છે, પરંતુ તમારા Insurance મુજબ તમને હજુ પણ બીજી ઘણી ઉપયોગી સેવાઓ મળવાની શક્યતા હોય છે.

ઉદાહરણ તરીકે:

• આવવા-જવાની મદદ (Transportation)
• ઘરે ભોજન પહોંચાડવાની સેવા
• Home Care અથવા Personal Care Services
• Adult Day Health Programs
• બીજી Community Support Services

સૌથી મહત્વની વાત એ છે…

દરેક Insurance Plan અલગ હોય છે.

Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Private Insurance, Medicaid અને VA Benefits દરેક વ્યક્તિ માટે અલગ રીતે કામ કરી શકે છે.

એટલા માટે હું હંમેશા એક જ સલાહ આપું છું.

તમારા Insurance Card ની પાછળ આપેલા નંબર પર ફોન કરો અને પૂછો:

“Hospice Care દરમિયાન મને બીજી કઈ સેવાઓ મળી શકે?”

ઘણા પરિવારો આ સવાલ પૂછતા જ નથી, અને તેથી તેઓ પોતાના હક્કના લાભોથી અજાણ રહે છે.

જો તમારા સ્વજન Veteran હોય, તો તેમના VA Case Manager સાથે પણ જરૂર વાત કરો. કદાચ તમને એવા વધારાના લાભ મળી શકે જેની તમને જાણ ન હોય.

મારો હેતુ પરિવારોને યોગ્ય સવાલ પૂછવામાં મદદ કરવાનો છે જેથી તેઓ પોતાના સ્વજન માટે વધુ સારી અને સમજદારીભરી પસંદગી કરી શકે.
